GIFT IDEAS FOR ONE-YEAR-OLDS!

Updated: Mar 17, 2023

There is something SO special and exciting about celebrating your baby’s FIRST birthday. And, although your little one may not remember what you or your family got them for their first birthday, gifting your child or a child in your life a toy(s) that will be enjoyed and LAST from kid to kid is a smart choice!

With that being said, I put a lot of thought into what toys AJ and I would get D+D for their birthday and what gift ideas I would give grandparents when they asked. So, below is a list I have compiled of some of the best toys for one-year-olds and beyond! Hope you enjoy!

Nugget. Worth. The. Hype. This is what my in-laws bought the twins for their first birthday, and not only is it aesthetically pleasing (we have color Pebble) but it is comfortable for babies (+ mom!) and the possibilities of what you can build and create with it are ENDLESS. Who doesn’t love a good play fort, am I right?

Pikler triangle. Ours is from Lily and River and it is great quality, aesthetically pleasing, and the twins play with it EVERYDAY. We have the triangle and the ladder climber attachment. Highly recommend.

Simple swing set. We bought the twins a small swing set frame off of FB marketplace and then bought two infant swings at Target. And, again, this is another thing we use DAILY.

Water table. My best friend bought the twins a water table for their first birthday and it has been used and abused all summer long! They aren’t crazy expensive and make for hours and hours of outdoor fun!

Melissa & Doug Geometric Stacker. Rainbow, yet still aesthetically pleasing. I LOVE Melissa & Doug toys for the twins and this toy really makes their brains work!

Stacking cups. Less than $9. One of the twin’s favorite toys right now. * Add to cart. *

Suction Kups. $15 well spent. We use these on our glass door leading to our back patio, or suctioned them onto our foreheads for a silly game of “pull off the suction cup.”

Push toy/walker – In all honesty, D+D used small upside-down laundry baskets as their “walkers.” Long story short, one day I was putting away clothes with the twins underfoot, and before I knew it Delaney flipped the empty basket upside down and ran away with it. That being said, a recommend a legit walker as the laundry baskets are quite obviously not meant to be use in this fashion. We have this one, but there are other more aesthetically pleasing wooden ones like this!

Scoot Bike - I know a twin mom on Instagram that has these Hape Scoot Bikes for her twin boys and they seem to love them!

Ball pit. The twins don’t have one yet, but it is on my wish list for D+D. Especially, because Duncan LOVES balls. He is going to freak out the day I finally bite the bullet and buy one for him and Delaney.

A year subscription to Lovevery: To be honest, I have yet to sign up for Lovevery subscription boxes for the twins, but I WANT TO. So, do me a favor and sign up for a subscription and I will live vicariously through you. I see mom’s post about their Lovevery deliveries all the time and their boxes are always filled with the most creative and high-quality toys!

I hope this list of one-year-old gift ideas was helpful as you decide what to get that special toddler in your life!

XOXO

Katie
